2017今年第一次來這美麗的虎豹潭, 好山好水, 四月帶著傷離開, 六月再度回到這裡, 說不擔心是騙人的, 25km爬升 700m多, 最壞的情況就走完, 當成下個月出國比賽練習, 不能再受傷, 來吃喝玩樂也好. 
 結果路線比想像中的硬許多, 高溫炎熱, 溯溪玩水是最棒的一部分. 經過我上次摔倒的橋, 印象深刻, 後段是無止境的上上下下, 把鬥志都磨平了, 19公里把水清空, 開始加速, 還以為Suunto的紀錄有問題, 太渴了但22km怎麼還沒看見馬路, 謝謝登山客的補給, 後來還是跳到溪裡降溫, 回程路上我邊跑像瘋狗叫, 跟回程的選手們互相打氣, 到終點喝啤酒, 保持鬥志, 總算看到馬路邊照相人員, 照了我唯一快樂的照片, 還借了水降溫, 感謝. 回到終點, Net time 3:28. 結果意外拿下總1, 賽後冰涼飲料, 啤酒, BBQ美食, 路線優質的賽事, 天氣很熱, 無法掌控, 越野是充滿挑戰的運動, 一年兩次的虎豹潭的酸甜苦辣回憶, 最後在歡樂聲中畫下句點. 感謝辛苦的志工與主辦單位. 明年見!! 

Such a pretty Hupaotan Lake 虎豹潭 in Shuangxi district Taiwan 雙溪區 where I paid my first visit for Deloop trail race in April brought back ribs injury gift. Now I visit it again. I've admitted I was a bit worried and had no confidence for this race. However, I don't want to get injured again, so my worst scenario is to walk through the course as a training for next month Ultra Trail race in Malaysia. Distance 25KM with elevation 750m should be okay for me. My main concern was to over come the heat, over 30 degree.

I stood behind at the start line . First 1km was on ascent road, so I felt great and passing runners and eventually made it first wave group before entering trail course. This time I pushed myself to pass the first runner by holding two bottles of water. We were running pretty close all the way up until I stopped to dump all my water out. Too heavy to run. I saved my bag pack water for serious thirst and last 5 km. The other guy passed me again while I made a stop. I tried to follow him. Somehow I lost him at turn or I didn't know. Focused on staying with ribbons.

At CP1 station, I refilled both bottles and carried on quickly. At CP2, water station people told me that I was 1st. I told them there was guy ahead of me. I used one bottle to cool down my body and the other for drinking. I pretty much running alone without seeing any runners in this part. I missed turn and got lost several time, but I corrected it quickly.

At CP3, workers said I was the first. I didn't pay too much attention focusing on my own mind zone. River tracing part was fantastic under such high temperature. I kept looking at my watch elevation display. 580M. I felt the return point was close. When I saw my GPS watch at 19KM, I emptied my hand bottles, only drank back pack water, and ran faster.

However, after passing one hill, two, three hills, and the other came endless constantly up and down trails. I checked my watch elevation was over 1200m. My eyes were blur by sweating too much. Something wasn't right when i reached 23km, Why was I still in deep forest? Where was the road? I had no water to drink. I asked hikers to spare me some water. No enough, I had to leave the course jumping into stream to cool down myself. When I saw 13km runners, I knew I wasn't far away. Eventually I saw camera crew, I was jumpy happily and asked camera man for water. My only photo with smile during the race. And then rushed all the way to the finish line. I was surprised to be the first man at 25km category after being in 2ND place for a year.

Great course, people, cold beer, and BBQ, Hupaotan Lake has my beauty and sorrow memories. I am glad it was a happy ending.

P.S. By the way, actual race elevation was 1600m with 26-27km distance.
